Marcos Barrera
Cloud Security Engineer
Securing cloud-native infrastructure across AWS and Azure. I design and implement defense-in-depth strategies, automate threat detection, and harden environments against evolving attack surfaces.
Protecting cloud environments at scale
I'm a Security Engineer with a focus on cloud infrastructure protection across AWS and Azure. My work spans identity and access management, network security architecture, security monitoring, and incident response — always with an automation-first mindset.
I partner with engineering teams to embed security into the development lifecycle, translating compliance requirements into practical, scalable controls without slowing down delivery.
Outside of hardening cloud workloads, I stay current with the threat landscape through continuous certification, threat research, and hands-on labs.
Where I've worked
- Design and implement cloud security controls across AWS and Azure client environments.
- Build automated compliance and remediation pipelines using Terraform and native cloud services.
- Lead security assessments, threat modeling, and incident response for enterprise workloads.
- Configure and tune SIEM/SOAR platforms to reduce alert fatigue and improve detection accuracy.
- Monitored multi-cloud environments for security events using GuardDuty, Sentinel, and Defender for Cloud.
- Implemented least-privilege IAM policies and automated access reviews.
- Supported vulnerability management program across hybrid infrastructure.
- Assisted with endpoint protection, patch management, and security awareness initiatives.
- Gained foundational experience in networking, systems administration, and security fundamentals.
